Alexandre Lacazette hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons following Arsenal's 1-0 defeat to Spurs in the north London derby.Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game but, truthfully, Arsene Wenger's side were lucky to lose by only one. However, Lacazette came off the bench in the 65th minute and had two golden opportunities to score in the dying minutes of the derby. The French striker, who looked incredibly low on confidence, made a hash of a simple volley before somehow missing the target in the 93rd minute after being played through on Hugo Lloris's goal.Lacazette became Arsenal's club record signing in the summer but has started the last two games on the bench following the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes the 26-year-old forward has been seriously affected by the club's decision to sign a replacement.“He [Lacazette] has scored once now in I think 13 games,” he said on BT Sport. “They paid £45m for this guy and he’s seriously been affected by Aubameyang’s purchase in the transfer window.“He’s completely out of sorts, he hasn’t really got the confidence."

Arsenal fans raise valid point

Plenty of Arsenal fans on Twitter criticised Lacazette but there were many who suggested that Wenger is actually the man to blame for his two missed chances.

The former Lyon star has made 26 Premier League appearances in his debut season in England - but has completed 90 minutes on just seven occasions.

Plenty of Arsenal fans might disagree but they are definitely making a valid point.

Wenger will have no choice but to start Lacazette in the Europa League on Thursday night when they face Swedish club Ostersunds in the Round of 32.

Aubameyang is ineligible to play in Europe because his former club, Dortmund, are in the same competition.

It's probably their best hope of qualifying for the Champions League so Arsenal may turn their focus to the Europa League like Manchester United did last season.

“It’s a game we couldn’t afford to lose, of course, and that makes it much more difficult now,” Wenger said after the 1-0 defeat, as per the Independent. “But we have to fight as long as we have a mathematical chance.

“It’s too early [to talk about the Europa League]. Man United decided that once they were in the semi-final, and we are far from a semi-final."
