John Cena has been a staple of the WWE for nearly 16 years now since his infamous debut against Kurt Angle back in 2002.

During that time, the one-time Doctor of Thuganomics has amassed the joint-most world title reigns recognised by the WWE at 16 with Ric Flair.

Many would argue that Cena is one of the, if not the greatest superstar of all-time for his longevity in the business and memorable moments.

Cena has danced with the best inside the squared circle and headlined WrestleMania more times than many fans will care to remember, but his character is what grates the older fanbase.

Nearly every great superstar has turned heel at some point. Steve Ausin in 2001 and The Rock in 2003 - both of whom were incredibly over when they were switched - and, of course, Hulk Hogan back in 1996.

However, since Cena grew from his rapper character back in 2004, he has remained a babyface ever since. The cookie-cutter approach hasn't worked for everyone and many fans have pined for Cena's character to evolve down the years.

As a result, a large section of the fanbase began to resent the WWE's resident poster boy.

The WWE have released a video of the top 10 verbal attacks from fellow superstars to Cena and if you're one of the beleaguered majority, you'll really enjoy the personal blows that, to b fair, Cena takes in good stride.

There's no CM Punk on the list - as you would expect - and Roman Reigns doesn't make the cut either despite their very personal promos ahead of No Mercy last year.

Speaking about his feud with Cena, Reigns gave a bit of insight into how they are behind the scenes.

"I'll be completely honest: Me and John have always been cordial, but I would not say we are close friends by any means," Reigns told CBS Sports during an exclusive interview on this week's "In This Corner" podcast. "There is a business respect, but I think that's what makes this so special that we're truly competing against each other and I think people see that.

"But it's not like a situation where I'm taking anything he says to heart because I don't really care what he thinks about me. If you care for someone and they knife you, it's going to hurt. It will hurt your feelings and can depress you. But when you don't really care about somebody or their opinion, it doesn't affect you. And that's how it is with me and John."
