Arsenal fans are split over Alex Iwobi's Instagram message after derby defeat

It's safe to say that Iwobi is not in the good books of Arsenal supporters at the moment

This weekend's results have made it pretty clear that Arsenal's best hope of bringing Champions League football back to the club is to win this year's Europa League.In the first ever Premier League north London derby at Wembley Stadium, Harry Kane's 32nd goal of the season gave Tottenham a 1-0 win over the Gunners.The match continued Arsenal's terrible form away from home in 2017-18 and, while they remain in sixth place, they are now seven points off the top four.

Alex Iwobi came on for Mohamed Elneny in the 65th-minute at Wembley as Arsene Wenger searched for an equaliser, however the attacker was unable to make any sort of impact.

Following the disappointing derby defeat, Iwobi has braved the wrath of social media and released a message to Arsenal fans, however it has left them pretty divided.

Iwobi has work to do

With a mere two goals to his name this term, many people believe Iwobi shouldn't be playing games ahead of £46.5 million man Alexandre Lacazette or even Danny Welbeck.

The 21-year-old's relationship with Arsenal fans has been frosty ever since a video emerged last month allegedly showing him at a late-night party the day before a match.

Iwobi's message after derby defeat

Iwobi took to Instagram on Sunday, writing a lengthy message to Gunners supporters regarding the Spurs loss and how the team can make things right.

As you can see in the image below, the Arsenal academy graduate began: "Being an Arsenal fan myself, yesterday's defeat was very disappointing and hard to take.

"I know it's hard to believe but we (the players) know exactly how you are feeling. We have another match in a few days and, trust me, we'll be putting in 100% to try and make this right."

Iwobi, who will be at this summer's World Cup with Nigeria, thanked the fans, adding: "Massive love to all our fans for your support."

What's the problem?

While some Gooners have commended Iwobi for being one of the few players to come out publicly after Spurs 1-0 Arsenal, others are questioning how genuine his message was.
