No-one has forgotten about Mark Clattenburg despite him ditching the Premier League to go and referee in Saudi Arabia.

The 42-year-old made the surprise move in the summer, though he's continued to stay in the news with some valuable insights on the English game.

In December, he revealed his decision to quit was influenced by who else, but Jose Mourinho, after the Manchester United boss gave him a dressing down.

And prior to that, he caused a huge stir by admitting he allowed Tottenham to self-implode during their infamous 'Battle of the Bridge' when they finally conceded defeat in the 2015/16 title race with a 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

Despite all that, at the time Clattenburg was considered among the top officials and was rewarded by being handed charge of the finals of the European Championships and the Champions League in 2016.

Now, he has swapped those kinds of glamour games to ref the likes of Al-Ettifaq’s clash with Al Feiha.

It's certainly been a dramatic change of scene; last month, he stopped one fixture midway through to respect the call to prayer.

In the game this weekend, Clattenburg was on the wrong end of an unfortunate incident involving defender Hussein Sayed, but thankfully, he took it rather well.

As one of his team-mates limped off, the left-back went to throw a water bottle at the physio, only to miss and his the referee square in the face.

Ouch...

Never a good move - check it out below:

What a terrible, terrible aim.

The player in question gave him a hug - also not usually a good move on a match official - but he took it all in good jest.

Clattenburg jokingly brandished a yellow card at Sayed in response, so while he might not be the most popular on this side of the water, at least he showed he's still got a sense of humour.
