Brett Pitman and Alan Connell sealed Bournemouth's return to Coca-Cola League One with second-half goals in a 2-0 win at Pirelli Stadium.
Pitman's 27th strike of the campaign set the Cherries on their way to an automatic promotion spot with two games to spare and it comes just two years after dropping into the bottom division.
Victory was ensured when Connell came off the bench to score with his first touch in the 90th minute
Pitman had chances to add to his 26-goal tally in a closely-fought first half.
The striker had a 25-yard free-kick deflected narrowly wide and saw a header and a low shot flash the wrong side of the post.
Burton's best chance fell to Greg Pearson in the 36th minute with a header that was superbly tipped away for a corner by Shwan Jalal.
The Cherries came strong again towards half-time but Pitman again missed the target with a low drive from 20 yards.
Bournemouth piled on the pressure after the break, with Danny Hollands dipping a 25-yard volley over the crossbar before Burton's veteran keeper Kevin Poole made a point-blank save to deny Jason Pearce.
Burton's defence finally yielded in the 67th minute when Pitman pounced to hook home from 10 yards.
Pitman could have added a second eight minutes later but steered his shot wide after getting the better of Tom Parkes.
Connell put the icing on Bournemouth's promotion cake when he bundled in Anton Robinson's left-wing cross with his first touch.
