Aldershot kept their play-off hopes alive with a 2-1 win which leaves Cheltenham still needing a point to guarantee their safety.

Robins` leading scorer Justin Richards opened the scoring from the spot in the 14th minute after Barry Hayles had been brought down by Shots goalkeeper Jamie Young following a poor back header from Anthony Charles.

Central defender Charles had earlier stooped to head over from a corner and Cheltenham goalkeeper Scott Brown made a fine reaction save to keep out Aaron Brown's volley.

Damian Spencer missed a good chance on his return to his former club, firing over from close range in the 33rd minute.

Aldershot levelled three minutes after half-time when Richards was penalised for handball in the area and Scott Donnelly buried from the spot.

Charles headed Donnelly's corner against the bar in the 84th minute as Aldershot made the stronger finish and in the 90th minute Dean Morgan delicately lifted the ball over Aaron Lescott and slammed it into the net to seal a dramatic victory.
