One WWE star being released made some interesting changes.
PWinsider.com has published a report that has shed light on the fact that there has been a big backstage shift in the WWE with the 205 Live brand.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is no longer charge of the TV series as he has stepped aside. Now, Triple H, who oversees NXT, is in charge of the brand.
As seen by watching the show on the sports entertainment company’s streaming service, WWE Network, “The Game” has brought back many of the things that were familiar of the Cruiserweight Classic to the show.
While McMahon wanted to showcase their personalities, Triple H has focused more on their in-ring work.
It was noted in the report that McMahon made the decision to allow Triple H to take over as show runner two weeks ago in an attempt to reboot and fix the brand.
People within the sports entertainment company has noted that the last two weeks of 205 Live have been compared to WWE NXT.
What fans are seeing on the program is the vision that was planned originally with the 205 Live series before McMahon got involved in the creative of the program.
Longtime journalist Dave Meltzer talked about the changes on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Live (transcript courtesy of Ringside News).
During the interview, he noted that former Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore’s termination from the company influenced Vince McMahon’s decision to make changes to the brand.
After recent serious allegations were levied against him on social media, the sports entertainment company announced late last month that they have released Amore.
“If Enzo wouldn’t have gotten fired, we wouldn’t have had this. Vince wouldn’t have given it up. Vince giving it up and Enzo getting fired were not coincidental.”
“This kind of show happened with Enzo because Enzo was the star of the show and you can’t have a serious wrestling show built around technical matches & great wrestlers and Enzo being the focal point of the show. That just doesn’t mix. So, Enzo getting fired changed the face of this.”
You have to give WWE a lot of credit for making the decision to bring back the cruiserweight division.
It was all due to Triple H, who came up with the idea for the Cruiserweight Classic that aired on the WWE Network. It featured the best talents in the world.
205 Live premiered on November 29, 2016, and airs following SmackDown Live. The Raw brand was originally established as the exclusive home of the division during the brand extension last year.
However, following the premiere of 205 Live, the cruiserweight stars appear on both Raw and 205 Live as well as making appearances on NXT.
