More details about WWE’s plans continue to come out.

It’s been well documented that the Wrestle Votes Twitter account, which has broken WWE reports in the past, noted on the social media platform that starting with the Backlash PPV on May 6th, all PPV events going forward will be dual branded.

This means that there will be no more Raw or Smackdown exclusive shows. The account mentioned that a source told them that repetitive matchups to fill the card along with so-so ticket sales lead to the decision.

It should be noted that the weekly TV shows will not be affected.

Dave Meltzer talked about the change from single-branded pay-per-views to dual-branded events during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

While talking about the change, he speculated that fans of the sports entertainment company may see more mult-person matches on these upcoming “B” rated pay-per-view events on their streaming service, WWE Network.

Courtesy of RingSide News, here is what Melzer had to say:

“I got a feeling that once they start doing these dual branded pay-per-view shows, we’re going to be getting so many multiple person matches and I know actually when it gets down to it.

When it comes down to these multiple person matches they usually book them pretty well and usually are entertaining.”

“I think we will be getting all kinds of multiple person matches left and right. Watch New Japan and get nothing but those tag matches. WWE is going to be nothing but multiple person matches.”

Just look at the next two WWE pay-per-view events - Fastlane and Elimination Chamber. They have several superstars in one match that will serve as the main event.

The Men’s Elimination Chamber match will see Elias (Last Entrant) vs. Braun Strowman vs. John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. The Miz (First Entrant) vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins.

The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, February 25th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. This will be an exclusive Raw brand event and the final Raw PPV before Wrestlemania 34.

At Fastlane, AJ Styles defends the WWE Title against Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, and Baron Corbin in a Fatal 5-Way Match.

WWE Fastlane is set to take place on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. This will be an exclusive SmackDown brand event and the final PPV event before Wrestlemania 34.
