Even this boxing legend has given his take on Mayweather’s potential transition.

It’s been well documented that Floyd Mayweather has posted videos of him entering a cage while Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza has been using “MayweatherMMA” hashtags to complete the tease of Mayweather potentially fighting under the UFC banner inside of the Octagon.

The latest shot that Floyd Mayweather decided to take was a photoshopped image showing him MMA gloves and elbowing the UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.

McGregor and Mayweather have been exchanging words in some kind of attempt to make a rematch happen.

The first boxing match between these fighters took place last August in Las Vegas, Nevada and aired live on PPV (pay-per-view) for the low price of $100 for HD and $90 for SD.

As seen in the fight, the UFC champion did show some good things in the ring considering that it was his first outing as a professional. However, he ultimately lost by TKO in the tenth round.

Although McGregor looked good in the first three rounds, he started getting tired as the fight went on. Even McGregor cited patches of fatigue that he needs to overcome. He made it clear by admitting that going 12 rounds was always a challenge for him during training camp.

If you recall, leading into their first bout, Mayweather stated that this would serve as his retirement fight, which would leave him with a perfect 50-0 pro-boxing record. If this fight does happen then it wouldn't impact his boxing record but rather his MMA record.

Former world champion Amir Khan gave his take on Mayweather potentially fighting in the UFC. Here is what he had to say:

“I don’t think [Mayweather] will ever step in the cage. MMA is a very difficult sport, you need to have a lot of strength and takedowns and I just don’t think a boxer is just gonna have all the tools to fight someone in an MMA cage, it’s gonna be really difficult," Khan told SKy Sports.

"I’ve been seeing Mayweather talking about and taking a lot of videos and pictures inside the MMA cage, but I just can’t see that ever happening. I can’t see him ever stepping in with someone in the MMA cage.”

McGregor has made it clear in previous interviews that he wants the rematch to happen. The UFC lightweight champion hasn't competed under the UFC banner since UFC 205 when he beat Eddie Alvarez for the title.
