With the likes of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Donovan Mitchell headlining the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night, they were surprisingly upstaged by another talented rookie who stole the show. The night belonged to Sacramento Kings shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic as he claimed the MVP award after a hot shooting night. He put in a big performance as Team World thrashed Team U.S.A 155-124 at Staples Center. The 25-year-old posted 26 points, four rebounds, and six assists and shot 7-of-13 from three-point range. He was lights out from beyond the arc and remained hot for much of the night. His Kings teammate Buddy Hield led them in scoring with 29 points but Bogdanovic pipped him to the MVP honour."We represented Sacramento well," Hield said, per CBS Sports. "Bogi likes the big stage. We both embrace it.

Coming into the game, the Serbian might have been one of the least known players taking part but he's certainly made a name for himself now.

Bogdanovic is no stranger to awards as he won multiple honours during his successful career in the Euroleague prior to joining the NBA.

He may have been the last player anybody would've expected to lift the MVP trophy at the end of the game but he certainly deserves attention for what he can do on the court.

His confidence was oozing and he even channeled his inner-Stephen Curry with a three-pointer from long range.

"I approach every single game the same way, try to compete, to be the best version of myself that day," Bogdanovic said. "It just happened tonight. I just kept shooting, and it felt good."

The sharpshooter is averaging 11.5 points as a rookie with the Kings this year and has become a vital contributor to their team.

He may have been Sacramento's best-kept secret but he's put an end to that with his stunning display in L.A.

Bogdanovic came up against teammate De'Aaron Fox on the night and couldn't help but engage in some trash talk with his fellow rook.

"I told him I would score on him," Bogdanovic said. "I should have bet as well. But we didn't bet, so I didn't get some extra money."

The Kings may have one of the worst records in the NBA but this was the first time they had three players in the Rising Stars Challenge.

They definitely have some good young talent to build around for the future with Bogdanovic, in particular, proving that he's ready to take centre stage.
