George Groves has done remarkably well to bounce back after suffering back-to-back defeats against Carl Froch in 2013 and 2014.The 29-year-old has shown incredible strength of mind to recover from those devastating losses and get his career back on track. That he suffered another defeat against Sweden’s Badou Jack in September 2015 - following victories over Christopher Rebrassé and Denis Douglin - makes his recent rise all the more impressive.Groves recorded his seventh consecutive career victory over Chris Eubank Jr. at the Manchester Arena on Saturday evening. He outclassed his compatriot over the course of the 12 rounds and deservedly sealed his place in the World Boxing Super Series final after the judges scored the fight 117-112 116-112 115-113 in his favour.“The better man won on the night,” Groves said, per The Sun, after his latest win. “Credit to Junior for getting through 12 rounds, I didn’t think he would. Chris didn’t lie when he said he was going to grit it out. That was a terrific fight for the fans.”Victory must have tasted even sweeter knowing that Howard Foster was among the judges for the fight. It was Foster, of course, who controversially stopped the first Froch v Groves bout back in November 2013.Groves was left heartbroken by the decision and, like many viewers, was convinced that the fight should have been allowed to continue for longer.

What boxing fans are saying about Froch

On the subject of Froch’s victories over Groves, boxing fans have taken to social media in the aftermath of Saturday night’s fight and issued their belief that the Nottingham-born fighter hasn’t received the credit he deserved for those excellent performances at the end of his career.

Froch defeated Groves by TKO following that Foster stoppage and then outclassed the same opponent six months later, recording an eighth-round knockout.

Many boxing fans believe that Groves’ impressive win over Eubank Jr. shows just how good Froch really was - and they’ve surely got a point…

Is Froch's 'arrogance' the reason why he's underrated?

Arguably one of the reasons Froch didn’t receive the credit that his performances against Groves deserved was because of his perceived arrogance.

Incredibly self-assured, Froch’s comments before and after the fights against Groves did little to boost his popularity.
