Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are once again dominating the headlines.
The pair set all kinds of pay-per-view records when they met in the boxing ring back in August, a fight which Mayweather convincingly won in the tenth round in Las Vegas.
Now, the two fighting superstars are reportedly both looking at meeting each other again, however, this time it could be in the Octagon.
Mayweather has posted a number of 'teaser' videos on social media hinting that he is training in MMA, while McGregor has always stated he would love the fight.
He regularly taunts Mayweather on Twitter about how UFC is a far more brutal sport, one which the Money Man wouldn't be able to handle.
And now, McGregor has made a huge statement on his official Instagram account, one which could drop a huge bombshell on the potential rematch.
His caption for the post reads: "I am happy for Floyd and his recent announcement that he is out of these current fight negotiations.
"It is the reason I never seeked the rematch in the first place. I was happy for him in retirement.
My game is a very unforgiving one. It is not like other games.
"I understand completely him staying retired. I will now carry on in my negotiations and see where it goes.
"Have a great retirement Junior.
"Now come here and give your old man a hug for old times sake. I'm proud of you son.
So, is McGregor telling the truth? Or is he simply trying to lay down some serious bait, one which he hopes Mayweather will gobble up?
As of yet, there have been no 'official' announcements from anyone in Mayweather's camp, nor have their been any statements released by the UFC.
It will be interesting to see how this situation unfolds in the coming days.
