For the most part, the NBA's new All-Star format received positive reactions and many were in favour of it but there was one aspect that caused frustration for a lot of people.

After deciding to have a draft system with two captains picking players, the league chose not to televise this to the public and it sparked a huge debate.

Players such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, John Wall and Kyrie Irving all believed that it should have been aired and that the NBA missed a real trick where they could've added more spice to the occasion.

Commissioner Adam Silver is always willing to listen to the thoughts of players and fans with the aim of putting the best product out on the court.

With that in mind, Silver has admitted that the draft is likely to be televised next year after listening to the complaints.

"When we sat with the union and we came up with this format, we all agreed, let's not turn something that's 100 percent positive into a potential negative to any player," Silver told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

"But then ... maybe we're overly conservative because then we came out of there, and the players were, 'We can take it. We're All-Stars. Let's have a draft.' So it sounds like we're going to have a televised draft next year."

The decision not to show the draft to the public at least gives the league something fresh to include next year.

Even without this, they were able to enjoy one of the most competitive All-Star games in recent years as Team LeBron overcame Team Stephen 148-145 as the game came down to the final minutes in a thrilling finish.

James picked up the MVP award for the third time in his career after posting a game-high 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists to lead his team to victory.

"I thought it was incredible. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of the players," Silver said of the new format.

"I'm so thankful, and I think I know walking around the arena here the fans appreciated it just as much as I did," he said.

If this year's showcase is anything to go by, then the fans in Charlotte should be in for a real treat when All-Star weekend hits North Carolina in 2019.

With the draft expected to be televised, the motivation for next season's event could be even higher among the players which should make for another competitive duel.
