There was some scare within WWE that Seth Rollins could miss WrestleMania due to a back injury, however, that is no longer a concern behind the scenes.

Rollins was actually initially expected to miss WrestleMania 34 due to what was originally believed to be a degenerated/torn lumbar disc. Tests, however, came back negative on that diagnosis. It turns out "The Architect" is simply suffering from a minor muscle tear.

The two injuries were likely confused as they both share the same symptoms, which are acute lower back pain & inflammation. When WWE believed Rollins was suffering from a torn lumbar disc it was expected he'd miss WrestleMania 34 (via SportsKeeda).

A torn lumbar disc would've required minor surgery and kept Rollins out from competing in New Orleans. Initial plans had Rollins and Jason Jordan competing inside the Elimination Chamber, likely leading to a WrestleMania match between the pair.

Unfortunately Jordan suffered a legitimate neck injury and was sent home to recover. Thus, Jordan was removed from the Chamber match and WWE was forced to find two more replacements.

WWE had originally planned for The Miz and Finn Balor to feud for the Intercontinental Championship at Elimination Chamber, however, when it was expected Rollins and Jordan would miss the Chamber match those plans were scrapped and both Miz and Balor were added in.

After it was determined Rollins was fit to compete in the Chamber he was added back into the match, making it the first-ever Seven-Man Elimination Chamber match.

Now Rollins, Balor, Elias, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, John Cena and The Miz will compete inside the Elimination Chamber on February 25th from Paradise, Nevada on pay-per-view (PPV).

It's expected that Roman Reigns will win the Chamber match and go on to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at WrestleMania. As for Rollins, those plans seem to be up in the air.

One interesting idea would be to continue WWE's plans to have The Miz feud with Finn Balor over the Intercontinental Championship. Inserting Rollins into that feud that would eventually lead to a Triple Threat match for the strap at WrestleMania could be an interesting idea.
