Can Manchester City do the quadruple? That has been the question being asked all season by football fans with Pep Guardiola’s side seemingly unstoppable. They’ve already wrapped up the Premier League, they’re in the final of the Carabao Cup, virtually through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and appeared to have a relatively easy passage to the semi-finals of the FA Cup - needing to beat Wigan away before a home tie against Southampton in the last-eight.But this is football. And this is the FA Cup.City travelled to League One side Wigan and nobody could have predicted a shock. In fact, the bookmakers believed there was as much chance of Wigan winning 1-0 than Man City to win 7-0.But one of those things happened - and City certainly didn’t score seven.Instead, Will Grigg scored the only goal of the match as Paul Cook’s Wigan did the unthinkable and beat City, progressing through to the quarter-finals.Rather unsurprisingly, Wigan supporters were ecstatic and invaded the pitch at full-time. That’s when things turned a bit sour. There was an incident involving Sergio Aguero, before Wigan fans decided to go over to the away end to taunt the City fans.

Police soon intervened but the away supporters were not happy.

They’re certainly not used to losing and it angered them. And they couldn’t contain their anger.

As police separated the Wigan fans on the pitch from the City fans in the stands, they started being targeted by missiles from the away end.

These appeared to be bottles before a large advertising hoarding could be seen striking one officer. It could have been very nasty.

That’s not the way to behave after a defeat.

Instead, City will now have to pick themselves up for their Carabao Cup final on Sunday against Arsenal.

Their quadruple could be down to just a double in just a matter of days.
