Chris Eubank Junior may be a good fighter, but Saturday proved he's a long way from being a great boxer.

For the second time in his career, 'Next Gen' stepped up to the plate for a top fight and was beaten convincingly by George Groves at the Manchester Arena. The 28-year-old was timid throughout the opening six rounds and his barrage of late shots were inaccurate at best.

It was a spirited performance from Eubank Jr but it wasn't enough as he picked up his second defeat and became laughed at upon the instant suggestion of another title fight.

Perhaps the result shouldn't come as too great of a shock, though, as a certain Billy Joe Saunders has been outlining the Englishman's weaknesses for sometime. The Frank Warren fighter is certainly prone to exaggeration yet he was spot on in this case.

Despite being a far cry from fitness, Saunders handed Eubank Jnr his first loss back in 2014 by playing to his boxing skills - keeping the young hope at a distance and counterpunching effectively.

Saunders in agreement with Prince Naseem

Moreover, since the Groves bout, Saunders has come out in support of Prince Naseem Hamed who accrued remarkable publicity as a pundit with ITV sport claiming that Eubank Jnr should retire.

"This guy is not on the level he thinks he is, he's in a dream land. I know this sounds terrible but I think he should finish," Hamed incredibly concluded.

In an interview with 'Behind the Gloves,' BJS was asked for his reaction to the comments and, well, was pretty much in complete agreement. "I thought Naseem was just saying it how it is," Saunders remarked.

Saunders absolutely roasts Eubank Jnr's career

"He's not learning, he hasn't learnt since 2014 - so what's the point?

"If you're in it for what you are, you've got a pay cheque there, sail off into the sunset and leave it.

"I talk a lot of s**t myself but I back it up: 26 times, world champion defences and everything else. So, I agree with Naseem to an extent.

"You know, he can't move forward in his boxing career and make big, big chances unless he finds some magic dust somewhere that enhances his boxing skills because they are terrible.

"He looks brilliant doing his nine-punch-per-second combinations on a bag that don't hit back. He should move down to journeymen level and twoddle down there for a few years because he's never, never, never, never going to beat someone like me.

"I could put a blindfold on and beat him."

Wowsers.

It wouldn't be Saunders if he didn't pander to superlatives but, at the heart of it all, he makes some damning points about Eubank Jnr. 'Next Gen' has a long and arduous journey back to anywhere near the top.
