Throughout his NBA career, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has repeatedly stated that loyalty is a major part of who he is.Since joining the franchise in 2013, he has grown as a player with each year and is now one of the best in the league. He may not be playing in one of the glamorous markets in the league but his commitment to Milwaukee has never been in question. In the summer of 2016, the Greek Freak signed a four-year, $100 million extension with the Bucks and chose not to include a player option in the contract to prove that he has no intentions of leaving. After an interesting report emerged in the offseason that the Wisconsin-based outfit could lose Antetokounmpo if they didn't put a strong team around him to compete, he took to Twitter to calm the fears of all Bucks fans with a six-word tweet."I got loyalty inside my DNA," he wrote.
After Jason Kidd - his head coach of three-and-a-half years - was fired last month, the 23-year-old offered to help save his job and keep him at the helm by speaking to the front office.
"One of my characteristics is that I'm being loyal to the people around me,” Antetokounmpo said.
In a recent interview with ESPN's Chris Haynes, the topic of loyalty came up again and the lengthy small forward reaffirmed how committed he is to the team that drafted him in 2013.
"As long as Milwaukee does the right moves and we're a championship (contending) team, I'm not going nowhere," Antetokounmpo said.
"This is my home. All I know is loyalty and this is an organisation that (has preached that) since day one and hopefully I can help them bring joy to the fans and bring joy to the city in the future with a championship."
According to Los Angeles Lakers president and Hall of Famer Magic Johnson, Giannis will succeed in bringing a title to Milwaukee in the coming years.
"He's going to be like an MVP, a champion, this dude he's going to put Milwaukee on the map. And I think he's going to bring them a championship one day," he said, per ESPN's Nick Friedell.
The two-time All-Star is averaging 27.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists this season for the Bucks, who currently sit sixth in the Eastern Conference.
In the eyes of many, he'll eventually take over from LeBron James as the best player in the league and the face of the NBA.
Milwaukee fans should be delighted to know that he will do so as part of their team for the foreseeable future.
