Since joining the Cleveland Cavaliers, Larry Nance Jr. hasn't made a gigantic impact on the floor.

In his first appearance with the team in a victory over the Boston Celtics on February 11, he had five points, four rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes. In a win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on February 13, he had 13 points, nine rebounds, and two assists in 25 minutes before posting six points and three rebounds in 16 minutes in a loss against the Washington Wizards on Thursday.

Despite the fact that he hasn’t taken on a prominent role, Nance has made it very clear that he’s excited to be in Cleveland, where his father played for seven years.

As a tribute to his dad, Nance made it clear that he’d like to switch his No. 24 to Nance Sr.'s No. 22, even though it has been retired by the franchise.

“I’m 24 right now,” Nance said before his first home game. “We’ll revisit it in the summer, but with everything that just happened so fast, I wasn’t about to go to Cavs management and say, ‘What do you think about taking 22 down?’”

He added, “I don’t want to see it come down, so if there’s some way where I could even drop the ‘Junior’ off my jersey and wear the ‘Nance 22.’ I’d love to keep it up there. I’d also love to wear 22, but I just don’t want to see it come down, so we’ll revisit it in the summer and see.”

Talks apparently accelerated.

"I'll be wearing No. 22 from here on out," Nance Jr. told reporters in the Cavs locker room before Thursday’s game against the Washington Wizards, per ESPN. "My dad's jersey will get to stay retired in the rafters, so, I couldn't be happier with it. I think that starts next week, and I'm thrilled. I've been wearing 22 my whole life, and to get to wear it for the Cleveland Cavaliers is beyond a dream come true.”

Per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Cavs organization revisited the uniform situation during the All-Star break and got approval from their marketing department, the front office, the league and Nike in order to make the change. McMenamin added that the league usually doesn't allow a player to switch his uniform number during the season, but Nance Jr. was granted an exception as a legacy.

During the Dunk Contest on All-Star Weekend, Nance wore his dad’s No. 22 Phoenix Suns jersey before one of his slams.

Nance is expected to wear his No. 22 jersey for the first time Tuesday when the Cavs host the Brooklyn Nets at Quicken Loans Arena.
