In a couple of days time, Jon Jones will find out whether he will be able to compete for the UFC later this year, or if he will be serving a four-year suspension from the sport of MMA for being a second-time doping offender.

Bones hasn't competed for UFC since his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 in July 2017. He originally won the fight, but this result was overturned and he was later stripped of the title after he tested positive for Turinabol.

On February 27, Jones will go before the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) at his doping hearing in Anaheim, California. He's also expecting a negotiation in his case with United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the UFC’s anti-doping partner.

If found guilty, his UFC career could be over as he could face up to a four-year suspension as a second-time offender. However, he has declared countless times that he hasn't voluntarily taken performance-enhancing drugs.

Jones' first doping offense came before his clash with Cormier at UFC 200 in July 2016. He was suspended for a year as a result by the USADA. In a recent interview, Dana White revealed he had spoken to Jones for the first time since this failed drug test.

The UFC president also said that at this moment of time, he's unsure if Bones will fight again for UFC since he is yet to have his hearing with the CSAC.

White said to TMZ Sports about Jones: “Jon and I talked yesterday. For the first time since his last fight. He sounds good and he’s looking at positive things right now and focusing on training. He wants to come back. Absolutely.

“I don’t know,” he said when asked if thought Jones would fight again. “That’s up to USADA, not me.”

Bones' manager, Malki Kawa, has said recently that he believes it’s 95% likely that his client will compete again for UFC in 2018. Jones' recent activity on social media indicates that he will be stepping foot to fight inside the Octagon once more very soon as well.

We'll have to wait until his CSAC hearing takes place on February 27 to see if this is the case and if White will be having any further conversations with Jones about a UFC future.
