Baggies interested in Belgian league winner

Anderlecht's Jelle Van Damme claims West Brom are one of a number of English clubs interested in his services.

The midfielder, who can also play as a central defender or left-back, last month helped Anderlecht claim the Belgian league title.

And he would contemplate a return to England having previously played for Southampton during their fateful Premier League campaign of 2004/05 - in which the Baggies avoided the drop on a dramatic final day.

"West Brom are one of the clubs interested in me," said the 26-year-old in the Daily Star. "Other English sides have also shown an interest. I will consider a return to the Premier League."

Van Damme started his career in his native Belgium before moving to Ajax, who he left in order for a brief spell at St Mary`s, which was followed by a loan stint with Werder Bremen and a move to Anderlecht in 2006.
