Just over two years ago, Marcus Rashford announced himself to the world by scoring on his competitive debut for Manchester United vs FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.

The unknown English striker came in to replace the injured Anthony Martial and would go on to set the world alight, scoring a brace on his Premier League debut shortly after in a 3-2 win over Arsenal.

That season under Louis van Gaal he developed into one of the world's brightest young talents, however, Jose Mourinho's arrival has seen him play a more peripheral role in the United setup.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic pushed him out to the left last season, while the arrival of Romelu Lukaku and the form of Martial in 2017/18 have seen Rashford play less and less.

The signing of Alexis Sanchez in January will only push him further down the pecking order and there are rumblings that he may seek an exit from United in the near future.

However, one man who is not fazed by all the Rashford talk is Gary Neville, with the Sky Sports pundit making a vital point about the situation he currently finds himself in.

NEVILLE DROPS A TRUTH BOMB

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday Super 6 Facebook Live, he said: "He's had a lot of playing time this season, he took part in nearly all the games until a few weeks ago.

"When you are a young player coming into the team you're not going to play every single game until the end of your career - Giggs is the exception.

"It's not unusual for a young forward to be in and out of the team, and it's something [being rotated] that I would have expected."

The World Cup is only a matter of months away, so Rashford will be desperate to get some more playing time in order to break into the Three Lions' starting XI.

Nevertheless, Neville still believes he's in Mourinho's good books and will get his chance.

He added: "If I thought he wasn't in favour I would be worried, but I think Mourinho has shown he likes Rashford."

It will be interesting to see what role he plays against Chelsea on Sunday.
