Barcelona enjoyed a fantastic victory over Girona on Saturday as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Philippe Coutinho fought for the limelight.Messi took it, naturally, with a sensational performance that saw him score two fantastic goals and assist another in the first half - making him the all-time record holder for assists in La Liga (he already held the record for goals, of course, creating a combination of stats that almost explains just how good Messi is).Coutinho grabbed his first La Liga goal and made it a trademark curler from outside the area, meaning that only one player in Europe's top five leagues has scored more goals from range over the past five years (it's Messi, naturally).Suarez wouldn't let his two teammates hog all the attention, though, and it was his hat-trick that allowed the scoreline to be as emphatic as it was.But after the game people weren't talking so much about Suarez's goals, and more about his desperate attempts to get a yellow card in the final minutes. The Uruguayan is one yellow away from a suspension and he would much rather it was against Las Palmas in Barca's next game than risk ruling himself out of the top-of-the-table clash against Atletico Madrid in the following fixture. But that meant Suarez needed to ensure he got a yellow once the game, and his hat-trick, was wrapped up  - it didn't leave him a lot of time.Do too much and he risks a red, of course, and so began a display of petulance that only Suarez could perform.Check out Suarez's ridiculous attempts below:He tries tripping a player, using his hand, taking an age over a throw, grabbing a player's leg, and pulling a player back all in the space of two minutes.Needless to say, fans enjoyed it a ton:

It's pretty unique seeing a player literally asking to get a yellow card, but that's what Suarez appeared to resort to just before the final whistle blew.

And the craziest thing about it all? He didn't get a yellow card.

Despite committing several yellow-worthy fouls in the space of a couple of minutes, the referee clearly saw what the player was doing and decided that apt punishment would be an outright refusal to book him.

So Suarez's attempts were in vain.

Instead of celebrating his efforts to get a yellow card and suspension for Las Palmas, Suarez will just have to console himself with a hattrick. Poor Suarez.
