Preston winger Keith Treacy has sacrificed an international call-up in order to be fit for next season.
The 21-year-old had been invited to a Republic of Ireland training camp to be held in Dublin between May 16-21.
However, he will undergo surgery to repair a hernia this week and so will miss the Republic's two Ireland friendlies against Paraguay and Algeria at the end of the month.
