Ever since DeMarcus Cousins went down with his season-ending Achilles injury, Anthony Davis has stepped up in a gigantic way for the New Orleans Pelicans. On Monday, he continued his recent dominance, dropping a personal season-high 53 points to go along with 17 rebounds, three assists, five blocks and a steal in 39 minutes of a 125-116 victory over the Phoenix Suns.It was the third time in the last five games that he has had 42-plus points and the fifth time in the last seven games that he’s had 38-plus points.Going 16-for-29 shooting and 21-for-26 from the free throw line on Monday, it was obvious that the Suns simply had no one on their roster who could check Davis, who clearly should be entered into the MVP conversation at this point. Most importantly, the Pelicans have now won seven games in a row and have remained in the playoff picture in the packed Western Conference. As you can imagine, Davis’ numbers are far from typical. In fact, he’s made history multiple times this season already. But one stat in particular sums up the incredible talent that he is.

That’s right. In the last 17 years, Anthony Davis has had three 50-plus point, 15-plus rebound games. That’s the same number that the rest of the league has put up in that span combined.

That speaks volumes.

He also became the second player in NBA history to record 50-plus points, 15-plus rebounds and five blocks in a single game, joining Bob McAdoo.

Incredibly, when he passed 40 points and 10 rebounds on Monday, it was the fifth time he did so in the month of February. No one else had done that in the last 35 seasons.

Through his last six games, AD has now averaged 41.5 points, 14.8 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 3.0 steals per game while leading his team to six wins. Those numbers can't even be labeled "video game stats" because they're so absurd.

Here are some highlights of his ridiculous performance. Note how easy he makes everything look on the floor.

Davis and the Pelicans will face a major test when they travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs on Wednesday, the first of a four-game road trip. They will then square off against the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings. Although DeAndre Jordan might be able to contain Davis on the interior, the Mavs and Kings could find themselves in a similar situation as the Suns on Monday.

Based on what he’s done recently, there’s no reason to assume that Davis will slow down anytime soon.
