Romelu Lukaku proposed a very interesting idea on Monday night to the Premier League that is well worth considering.

Taking to Twitter, the Belgian striker stated that the Premier League should organise a north vs south match, which would be similar to the All-Star game that is currently played in the NBA.

"Here’s an idea for you guys... the nba has all-star game! Don’t you guys think we should organise one in the Premier League," he wrote.

"The north vs the south! And the fans vote... what do you guys think?"

Lukaku's idea has exploded on Twitter, having racked up almost 20,000 retweets and 50,000 likes at the time of writing; highlighting that many football fans would also like to see such an ocassion.

But who would feature for both sides?

Here is who would feature in our North vs South game should the game be played right now...

South XI:

(4-2-3-1) Lloris, Davies, Vertonghen, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Kante, Dembele, Hazard, Ozil, Mahrez, Kane

Lloris just ousts Courtois for the number one jersey, with two players apiece from Chelsea and Tottenham making up the four in defence.

N'Golo Kante, arguably the best holding midfielder in the Premier League occupies the midfield alongside Tottenham's Mousa Dembele.

Last season's player of the year Eden Hazard is a shoe-in to be included and is deployed on the left wing, with Mesut Ozil and Leicester's Riyad Mahrez also picked in attack.

Up front? Absolutely no debate. Harry Kane takes the number nine shirt.

North XI:

(4-4-2) De Gea, Robertson, Van Dijk, Kompany, Valencia, Pogba, De Bruyne, Sterling, Salah, Firmino, Aguero

De Gea was perhaps the easiest selection for the North XI, with the best goalkeeper in the world easing his way into the side.

Andy Robertson, who has been terrific for Liverpool in recent weeks, is chosen at left back, alongside teammate Virgil van Dijk.

Also making the defence is Vincent Kompany, who regardless of injury problems is still one of the best defenders in the league, and Manchester United's Antonio Valencia.

Paul Pogba, who has been struggling in recent weeks, is still chosen based on pure ability, alongside potential player of the season Kevin de Bruyne.

Raheem Sterling and Mohamed Salah are deployed on each wing, with Roberto Firmino and Sergio Aguero given the nod up front.

Unfortunately, the man who suggested the game, Lukaku, will have to make do with a place on the bench.
