Matthew Clarke is one of seven Bradford players who have been told their contracts will not be renewed this summer.

Clarke, who arrived on a free transfer from Darlington in 2006, joins Jonathan Bateson, Rory Carson, Matthew Convey, Matthew Glennon, Steven O'Leary and Luke Sharry in heading for the Valley Parade exit door.

Manager Peter Taylor told the Telegraph & Argus: "It was a tough decision with Matt [Clarke] but I'm going to look around in that position to see what's out there."

He added: "But if I don't find what I want there's a chance I might ring Matt again because he`s big, strong, left-footed and has good experience, which is what I will be looking for.

"I feel for Steve O'Leary because as soon as I got here he was injured and I haven't been able to see enough of him to offer another contract. With Matt Glennon I couldn't guarantee he`d be No 1 and, financially for us, I would have had to do that to keep him on the same wages. But he is another one I might look at again.

"We need a very, very good team and I've got to be 100% honest with myself on that. I`m only going to have players here I feel are going to do a very good job."
