In the battle between two of the best point guards in the NBA today, it was Damian Lillard and his Portland Trail Blazers that came out on top of Russell Westbrook and his Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday. However, in the individual battle between the two, it was a little bit of a different story. The Trail Blazers defeated the Thunder 108-100 at the Moda Center in Portland last night, with CJ McCollum being the best player for the home team in the game with 28 points, eight rebounds, six assists, a steal, two blocks, and he was 10-of-20 from the field.Lillard wasn't too far behind McCollum, as he finished with 20 points, a rebound, and seven assists. However, he couldn't come close to what his counterpart in Westbrook could produce on the court for Oklahoma, as he scored 30 points with 11 rebounds and six assists. The Thunder icon didn't just beat the Trail Blazers star on the stats sheet, as he also won in a one-on-one contest the two had with just over nine minutes to go in the third quarter of the game.Lillard had possession of the ball and was making his way towards the Thunder's end of the court when he was met by Westbrook. The Trail Blazers point guard then cut inside and drove his way towards the basket only for the Thunder guard to match him and jump up to swat the ball away from the basket.

Many people thought there was beef between the two point guards before the game as many people believed Westbrook's comments about “guys complaining about getting snubbed” from the NBA All-Star game was him taking a shot at Lillard. Prior to the game though, the Trail Blazers star told Joe Freeman of The Oregonian that this wasn't the case.

“We walked up to each other and we literally laughed about it,” Lillard said on Friday: “He was the first guy I saw. As soon as he came in, we made eye contact, we both laughed. He was like, ‘Man, you know we’re better than that.’ I said, ‘I know.’ I said, ‘But you know I take exception to everything.’ We literally laughed about it.”

Both teams have tough games next, as the Thunder will host the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, who have won their last 15 games, while the Trail Blazers visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, who have won their last five games in a row.
