A trip to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton really shouldn't have caused Arsenal as many problems as it did.But this is an Arsenal side that has lost its way under Arsene Wenger, whose position as the club's manager is quickly becoming untenable.Details of a meeting between the players emerged this week. The meeting was held on Tuesday, between the 3-0 defeats to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final and Premier League, and tears welled up in one player’s eyes - apparently Laurent Koscielny’s - after he admitted that his children have started to ask him why Arsenal are so bad. It’s reached the sad point where Arsenal fans were not surprised when Brighton took the lead this afternoon. The opener came as early as the seventh minute. Petr Cech failed to clear a corner and Lewis Dunk smashed the ball into the empty net.And it was 2-0 not long afterwards, Glenn Murray heading home from Pascal Gross’ delivery.

How Mesut Ozil reacted to the goal

How must Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, both of whom arrived in January, and Mesut Ozil, who recently signed a new contract extension, be feeling right now?

Ozil gave a clear indication as to how he feels about the situation with his reaction to Brighton’s second goal.

Per James Benge of the Evening Standard, the German playmaker - like every Arsenal fan around the world - was “fuming”.

“Ozil has thrown his gloves off, he's fuming,” Benge wrote on Twitter. “Shaking his head, muttering under his breath, arms in the air.

“Looks like he's suffering as much as any fan.”

Ozil's frustrations were evident when he came out for the second half, too.

"Ozil comes back out some time after his team-mates, walks through the cones that are meant for a warm-up. Face like thunder," Benge wrote.

The German looked like the only player capable of getting them back into the tie - he really did attempt to put the team on his back.

A penny for his thoughts on that contract extension now.
