Chelsea failed to register a single shot on or off target in the first-half of their clash with Manchester City today - the first time they'd done so since 2003/04.

While there's absolutely no shame in struggling to perform against Pep Guardiola's indomitable side, the Blues came in for great criticism from the likes of Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Souness for their showing.

Furthermore, proceedings didn't improve for the Blues in the second-half as they fell a goal behind within the opening minute virtue of Bernardo Silva.

Since that opening goal, Chelsea improved their play but you got the impression that something just wasn't right with their style of play.

Antonio Conte has come in for criticism in recent weeks and from the get-go frustrated a lot of Chelsea fans by failing to start with a striker at the Etihad Stadium.

Antonio Conte deployed Hazard as a false nine

Instead, while benching Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, he deployed Eden Hazard in the false nine position.

You'd be foolish for thinking Hazard was anything short of one of the Premier League's finest players, yet his new deployment was having little joy for Chelsea. And, frankly, Chelsea fans were getting royally fed up on Twitter.

Blues supporters were all trying to tell Conte to ditch Pedro, move Hazard onto the left wing and choose Giroud to lead the line.

Chelsea fans make an excellent suggestion on Twitter

Considering how Chelsea fared in the opening hour of football, their point was pretty spot on - check out the tweets below:

In one of the biggest games of the season, you'd like to think Conte would have played at least one of the strikers he'd snatched from Real Madrid and Arsenal respectively.

Furthermore, it was clear that Hazard wasn't being used effectively down the centre, especially when you consider his mercurial performances out wide earlier in the season.

Fans can often produce some left field suggestions for their manager but they had their finger on the pulse here.
