Although fans thought Cesaro deserved much better at the time, the decision to have him team up with Sheamus proved to be a stroke of genius as the two talented and entertaining stars have become a staple of the stacked tag team division.Going on to form The Bar, both Sheamus and Cesaro have arguably put their names in the mix as possibly the best team in WWE today, but you could also add The Usos into that conversation.

TAG TEAM DOMINANCE

Their dominance on Monday Night RAW is clear to see. Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan, Titus Worldwide, The Hardy Boyz and most recently The Revival - the unlikely duo of the Celtic Warrior and the Swiss Superman have disposed of every major challenge that’s been thrown their way.

By defeating all of the teams above, it comes as no surprise why WWE has been pushing the idea of The Bar having no challengers left as they’ve effectively defeated every team that has stepped up to the plate.

With a deficit of teams, an opportunity has been presented by Sheamus to any team that thinks they can hang with The Bar at the Grandest Stage of Them All in New Orleans, Louisiana next month.

OPEN CHALLENGE

Sheamus re-emphasised that on his Twitter account, where he posted: “Who will step up to #TheBar at #WrestleMania34? The Greatest Tag Team on Earth has NO worthy opponents on The Grandest Stage of Them All. This is an Open Invitation…#StepUpToTheBar.”

As expected, several teams have teased that they’ll be answering the open challenge, ranging from The Dudley Boyz and The Young Bucks, right through to Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. However, PWInsider is claiming that WWE has other plans for Sheamus and Cesaro at WrestleMania 34.

According to the source, the word going around RAW right now is that the current plan for The Bar is to defend their RAW tag team championships against a new team that aren’t currently a team. This means that WWE is said to be putting together two singles stars to face off against Sheamus and Cesaro - who were also put together in similar circumstances.

While it’s unclear on who that team could be right now, it makes you think that the favourites who have emerged over the past few weeks in Titus Worldwide and even The Hardy Boyz - as Woken Matt and Brother Nero - won’t be the ones who receive this opportunity.

When you consider that WWE always looks to make the biggest impact possible each year, and the fact that they have The Hardy Boyz’ return last year to compete with, WWE’s picks shouldn’t just be surprising, but also talented stars and genuine contenders who can hang at an event of that magnitude.
