Liverpool’s 23-year-old left-back Andy Robertson is quickly endearing himself to the club’s supporters. The Scottish defender has established himself in Liverpool’s first team thanks to a string of fine performances, demoting Alberto Moreno to a regular spot on the bench.Robertson has only been a Liverpool player for a matter of months - he signed from Hull City last summer - but he’s already built a connection with the fans.“It’s an unbelievable feeling to have that relationship with the fans,” he said in a recent interview with the Liverpool Echo.“To hear them singing your name, it gives you a wee bit of a lift. I’m grateful for how they have welcomed me.“You want your fans to be on side. I feel like they have taken to me and I’ve taken to them quite quickly.”

Robertson has sent Liverpool fan lovely letter

A letter sent from Robertson to a young Liverpool fan is doing the rounds on social media and it shows just why fans are growing to love him.

The Scotland international wrote a letter to a supporter named Alfie, who has generously donated his own pocket money to food banks at Anfield.

And quite deservedly, Robertson has sent Alfie a letter as well as a signed Roberto Firmino shirt.

“I remember from being your age just how important pocket money is and how there’s hundreds of things you could have bought for yourself with it,” Robertson wrote.

“For you to give that up for people who are having a tough time and need some help to get by is absolutely amazing.

“Let me tell you now, that is brilliant from you and sets an example to the rest of the us that showing a little care and thought for others is really important - it’s also very Liverpool!”

'I’ve got one of Roberto Firmino’s match shirts'

As for why Robertson is sending Alfie a Firmino jersey and not one of his, his explanation is very funny.

“I’ve got one of Roberto Firmino’s match shirts from this season and asked him to sign it for you, by way of a thank you for what you did for the food banks.

“Let’s be honest Alfie - no one wants the left back’s shirt - which is why I got you Bobby’s instead. Hope that’s okay.”

Robertson has shown some serious class. He won’t have to worry about nobody wanting his shirt anytime soon.
