Manchester City were able to rest some key players for the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 clash with Basel.Pep Guardiola's side were beaten 2-1 at the Etihad on Wednesday night but progressed 5-1 on aggregate after a convincing first leg victory in Switzerland.“The first half was quite good," said the Man City boss. "But in the second half we forgot to attack, we forgot to play, to pass the ball.“Just to pass the ball without movement, to pass and pass for its own sake is nothing.“The second half was really, really poor."Man City's 17-year-old midfielder Phil Foden became the youngest English player to ever play in a Champions League knockout match.Meanwhile, Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson was rested and 34-year-old Chilean stopper Claudio Bravo made his first Champions League appearance of the season.

Bravo's glorious piece of skill

Bravo has looked anything but composed during his 18-month spell in Manchester but he produced a brilliant moment on-the-ball late in the first half.

Ederson is renowned for being good with his feet and it looks like his skills are beginning to rub off on Guardiola's second choice 'keeper.

The 34-year-old came rushing out his box and got to the ball first with his chest, before chipping the ball over a second Basel player.

Not bad at all.

Ederson's reaction to Bravo's silky skills

The TV cameras panned to the Brazilian keeper on the bench - and his huge grin showed just how much he enjoyed Bravo's magic.

Ederson suggested earlier this season that he would be willing to play outfield if called upon.

“When I started my career, I was actually a left-back and I do have some qualities playing with my feet, so I think that helps a lot, especially due to the way we play at City," said Ederson.

“If there was a situation where I was ever needed outfield, yeah, I’d definitely give it a go!”
