Manchester United earned a valuable three points against bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday, and much credit must be given to the performance of Ashley Young.Mohamed Salah has been sensational for Liverpool this year, and he was expected to be the away side's greatest threat during their trip to Old Trafford. But, that was not the case.Playing against winger turned full-back Ashley Young, Salah had absolutely no joy, with the Englishman nullifying his threat for practically the whole game.Marcus Rashford may have got the man-of-the-match award for his two goals in his side's 2-1 victory, but Young's performance was arguably even more significant.

JOSE MOURINHO RECOGNISES YOUNG'S PERFORMANCE

Young was heavily praised for his role in United's victory, and Mourinho also recognised Young's heroic performance, stating after the game how he was 'brilliant'.

"Everybody did a good job but you are right Ashley against Salah, we prepared the game very well, Ashley has great experience," Mourinho said.

"I think Liverpool in the second half were also playing a lot through the centre, allowed us to close more people in the inside, more people were close to each other, but Ashley was brilliant, yes."

YOUNG MOCKS SALAH IN INSTAGRAM POST

Such was his performance, that there has been many jokes on Twitter that Young had Salah in his pocket.

And now, Young has responded to those comments with a brilliant post on social media.

In reference to him containing the threat of the Egyptian, Young posted a photo of him in training on Instagram, accompanied with the caption: "Stop asking me! He’s not in my pocket, I swear he’s not."

Absolutely fantastic. Many doubted Young's ability to contain Liverpool's main man, but he stood up to the task admirably and helped his side win a vital three points.

Inevitably, Young's post went down extremely well with Man United fans, who quite simply could not get enough.
