On Saturday against Liverpool, Marcus Rashford made the difference. With Anthony Martial injured, the 20-year-old played on the left wing and bagged a first-half brace to put Manchester United 2-0 ahead against their rivals. It was a scoreline that Liverpool couldn’t recover from, despite Eric Bailly’s own goal in the second-half.After his two goals and a Man of the Match performance, Rashford was always going to start against Sevilla in their crucial Champions League clash against. However, Mourinho decided to switch Rashford to the ring wing, with Alexis Sanchez on the left and Jesse Lingard in behind Romelu Lukaku. And it’s fair to say Rashford didn’t have too much success on the right wing in the second-leg.While Jose Mourinho has already won this competition twice and is a far better manager than almost anyone else in the world, it didn’t take a genius to work out Rashford needed to be in the left. It’s something that Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard stated at half-time - as well as hundreds of Man Utd fans on Twitter.

SCHOLES AND GERRARD ON RASHFORD

At the interval, Scholes said that Rashford had been shoved on the right to accommodate Sanchez.

“On Saturday, on the left-hand side, he was absolutely outstanding. He was exciting and can go either way. And he’s been put on the right-hand side so they can bring Sanchez into the team," Scholes claimed.

While Gerard said: “I think it’s to get the best out of Sanchez but, for me, flipping Rashford on the right side would help United no end here.”

And this was the reaction from United fans on Twitter with so many pointing out Mourinho’s mistake.

MAN UTD FANS REACT TO RASHFORD ON THE RIGHT

Check it out:

At times in the second-half, Rashford popped up on the left and immediately looked much more dangerous.

But it was far too little, too late for United. Rashford couldn't make a difference and Wissam Ben Yedder, two minutes after coming on, scored a crucial away goal with less than 20 minutes remaining.

Ben Yedder then put the tie to bed four minutes later to put Sevilla 2-0 ahead with two away goals.

Romelu Lukaku did pull one back for United but they've crashed out at the last-16 stage.
