Manchester United 1-2 Sevilla, a result that very few saw coming.

Most expected the Red Devils to coast through, some thought they may just get over the line, but barely anyone predicted that Jose Mourinho's side would be eliminated in such a humiliating way.

United were pretty awful for all 180 minutes of the tie, barely threatening in attack and looking lethargic in possession.

The only player who could have left Old Trafford on Tuesday night with his held held slightly high was Romelu Lukaku, the man who scored the goal.

He was a constant threat up top, pressuring Sevilla's defence and showing some really nice touches.

In fact, he was much more of a creative threat than both Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard, although, that wasn't a big ask.

And it was convenient that United's best player on the night was interviewed by BT Sport and his quotes were quite fascinating.

VIDEO: ROM SPEAKS OUT

"Some players were hiding", four words that will really cut through United fans and will certainly not go down well in the dressing room.

Mourinho might have something to say, although given his attitude after the game, he might even praise his £75m striker for his words.

It's a rare sight in the footballing world for a top-class player to come out and give such a brutally honest interview after the game and United fans really appreciated Lukaku's bravery.

UNITED FANS REACT

Now, they can be appreciative towards Lukaku, but no United fan can deny that his words are seriously worrying.

It's probably safe to assume that one of the players hinted at by the Belgian was Sanchez, while Paul Pogba turned in a cowardly cameo performance, swatting away any responsibility.

The only certain thing is that there will certainly be a mass of changes for United's FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton on the weekend.

Who knows, Lukaku might be captain? Although, probably not.
