Now that WWE Fastlane is in the books, all of the focus turns to WrestleMania 34 next month with the card now beginning to take shape.
Some huge matches have already been announced. These include Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship defence against Roman Reigns, AJ Styles puts the WWE Championship on the line against Shinsuke Nakamura while Kurt Angle teams up with Ronda Rousey to battle Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag team match.
With more big matches expected to be announced in the coming weeks, SmackDown LIVE commissioner made a huge announcement on Tuesday night.
Not only did he reveal that he’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus as commissioner of the blue brand, but he also made a match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn official for the Grandest Stage of Them All on April 8 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer revealed that this is a rumour he has also heard. Plus, speculation only increased on Monday Night RAW this week when - during the Roman Reigns segment - Shane was spotted sitting next to Vince which prompted a sarcastic response from Owens on Twitter.
However, although Vince has emerged as a potential candidate to compete in the match, Alvarez has highlighted that the match is most likely not going to feature Vince as he’s simply too old now and shouldn’t be taking bumps. Along with this, many were concerned about Vince when he received a headbutt from Owens last year, so a match is probably not a good idea.
Although Vince might not be able to compete because of health reasons, the dots do connect which makes a one on one match between Zayn and Owens too good to be true.
They have unfinished business with Shane, he was spotted on RAW - perhaps for a good reason - and there wasn’t really a conclusion to Owens hitting Vince with a headbutt last year.
It’s going to be interesting to see how this one unfolds as we edge closer to WrestleMania 34.
