Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool have all held talks with representatives of Giuseppe Rossi, according to the player’s agent.

The former Manchester United striker, who scored 10 goals for Villarreal last term, has also been linked with Juventus, Fiorentina and Roma but could be tempted with a move back to the Premier League.

Agent Andrea Pastorello said: “He’s on the notebooks of those four clubs. We have met with leaders from them.”

Tottenham have already started shaping their squad for their first ever season in the Champions League and are on the lookout for strikers with Roman Pavlyuchenko and Robbie Keane likely to leave the club this summer.

Liverpool are bracing themselves for a big bid from Chelsea for Fernando Torres and have put Rossi at the top of their list while City are building to mount a fresh title challenge next season.

Arsenal have already signed one striker in Marouane Chamakh but are looking for sign more meanwhile Arsene Wenger is also monitoring Roma's French defender Phillipe Mexes.

Although born in the United States, Rossi has played 15 times for Italy, scoring thrice and has been named in Marcelo Lippi’s provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup.
