On Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors announced that another one of their big four players in Klay Thompson will be missing some game time after sustaining a right-hand injury during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, Steve Kerr sees the positives of the unfortunate situation.

The Warriors revealed that Thompson suffered a fractured right thumb during the team's loss against the Timberwolves and that it will be re-evaluated on March 22. The team's head coach stated to the Santa Cruz Sentinel that he would be missing a couple of weeks.

The shooting guard has been ruled out of Golden State's next four games at the very least, which began with Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Warriors were able to survive their first night without him, as they defeated the Lakers 117-106 on Wednesday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, with Kevin Durant leading the way with 26 points, five rebounds, six assists, two steals, a block, and he was also 10-of-19 from the field.

Speaking about Thompson's absence, Kerr looked more at the potential long-term benefits rather than the short-term consequences, as he believes the time off the court will give the shooting guard a chance to recharge before the end of the regular season and the playoffs come around.

“I look at this as a positive. I think it’s going to be really productive in the long haul,” Kerr said. “It’s not fun to deal with. But for a couple of weeks, he can get away from the game a little bit. Being able to recharge the batteries is probably a good thing.”

Thompson has played 530 out of a possible 543 games in the middle of his seventh NBA season, so Kerr said Thompson would have needed to take some time off before the NBA postseason begins in mid-April.

“That’s crazy. It’s not like these are minutes where he’s spotting up. He’s running everywhere and chasing the opposing team’s best guard. The guy is a machine. Even without the thumb [injury], I thought we were considering giving him a game or two off down the stretch. He looked more spent recently.”

Thompson wasn't the only big Warriors star that missed their win against the Lakers last night, as Steph Curry missed the game due to a tweaked right ankle, and Draymond Green sat out due to a sore right shoulder. All of their big four are expected to be back on the court though way before the playoffs, so there is no need for Golden State fans to panic.
