LeBron James is in an unfamiliar position this season as he’s playing arguably the best basketball of his career but it isn’t translating into as many wins as he’s normally used to.The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered another loss as they became the latest team to prove no match for the red-hot Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night, going down 113-105.Once again, James produced another terrific individual performance as he tried to almost single-handedly lead his team to a win.The King stuffed the stat sheet with 35 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, two steals and three blocks. The four-time MVP may have been on the losing side but he did produce the highlight moment of the game with one of the dunks of the season. After receiving a double screen from Rodney Hood and Kyle Korver almost near centre court, James quickly turned the corner and escaped Al-Farouq Aminu, allowing him a free run to the basket.LBJ’s eyes lit up and he fiercely attacked the rim, unleashing a thunderous dunk on the helpless Jusuf Nurkic who came over to try and protect the rim.

The stunning play was right in front of the Cavs bench and it saw every member erupt off their seats with excitement and disbelief.

Clips even show amazed reactions from Blazers fans in the stands. As you’d expect, this outrageous dunk sent Twitter crazy:

“I’m pretty much, ‘Let’s see who can meet at the apex.’ So that was my whole mindset,” James said, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “… I knew it was going to be a good one that’s going to be shown for a long time.

“I was more excited to look over and see my teammates, how excited they were. So that one will last forever in my highlights from my career, even when I’m done.”

Unfortunately for LeBron and the Cavs, it didn’t come as part of a win as their shorthanded squad was unable to stop Portland grabbing an 11th consecutive win.

The 33-year-old is almost averaging a triple-double since the Cavs made numerous trades at last month’s deadline (15 games, 28.9 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 9.7 apg). Cleveland is 8-7 in those games, however.

With 14 games left to play, the Cavaliers have lost 29 games. The most games James has lost in a single campaign whilst still making the playoffs was 37 in 2008.

The three-time champion has not missed a game this year and is posting 27.0 points, a career-high 9.0 assists and 8.6 boards in 68 games.

The Ohio-based franchise is not in any danger of missing out on the postseason but their chances of making the finals for a fourth straight year look extremely slim.
