With just three months to go on his contract it is looking more and more likely that Jack Wilshere will leave his boyhood club.

The academy product, who has been at the club since the age of nine, has returned to form this year and has been a mainstay in his side's midfield throughout this season.

However, with the 26-year-old reported to be earning wages of around £120,000-per-week, Arsenal want him to take a pay cut due to his injury history.

Understandably, Wilshere is unhappy with that request, and is stalling on signing extended terms with the club.

Arsene Wenger has repeatedly announced that he wants to keep the midfielder in north London, and he reiterated that desire just a few days ago.

"On my side, nothing has changed. Jack will be free at the end of the season," Wenger said on Wednesday.

"We have made a proposal to him and I want him to stay and be linked with the club for the future. I hope he will do it."

EVERTON ARE READY TO POUNCE

With his future still very much in doubt there have been multiple rumours suggesting that a host of European clubs are interested.

The most high profile name linked with a move for the 26-year-old is undoubtedly Juventus, but in recent times it seems Everton have also entered the race for his signature.

And by the sounds of it, the Merseyside club are extremely keen for him to make the move to Goodison Park.

According to the Times, Sam Allardyce and Everton are prepared to pay Wilshere an eye-watering £8 million signing-on-fee; an absolutely astronomical fee.

Of course, Wilshere will be available on a free transfer in the summer and Everton will not have to pay Arsenal a fee.

So, because they don't have to pay Arsenal, Everton are willing to give Wilshere a large sum of money in an attempt to persuade him to join the club.

The report claims that Wilshere's preference is to stay in north London, despite the prospect of earning far more money elsewhere, but he is yet to come to an agreement with his current employers.

Maybe the £8 million he could collect for just signing for Everton will prove too tempting for Wilshere to ignore.
