Brighton manager Gus Poyet has confirmed his interest in Colchester midfielder David Prutton.

The 28-year-old was expected to sign a new deal at the Colchester Community Stadium but Aidy Boothroyd's decision to take the reins at Coventry may see the former Leeds man turn down their offer.

And, with Seagulls skipper Andrew Crofts expected to join Norwich, Poyet is already eyeing Prutton as a possible replacement.

"He is a player I like a lot and, depending on what is happening with the midfielders, especially Crofty, we will see," Poyet told the Argus.
