Amanda Nunes’ name is beginning to dominate the mixed martial arts headlines now that she’s called out Cris Cyborg for a super fight, something only the bravest of women do.

In the past, Cyborg has revealed that she’s not interested in fighting fellow Brazilian champions because it’s not good for the country that they’ll be losing one champion. However, all that changed when The Lioness threw her name into the mix and called out her fellow countrywoman - and Cyborg believes that it was only done so that the bantamweight champion can negotiate a new deal with the UFC.

UFC 226 DEADLINE

Since the call-out, we haven’t heard many major updates on how close this fight is to becoming a reality. So much so, that Cyborg has given Nunes a deadline so that they can fight at UFC 226 before she can focus on other featherweight contenders.

UNFAIR

“I’m in my camp right now for (Pennington). I’m going to lose weight for 135. My body is going to be small. Do you think I’m supposed to jump into another camp right after a fight? I don’t think that’s fair.

“When you finish a fight, you have to rest and go on vacation and recover, and then do another camp. If you’re going to fight at 100 percent, especially go up one weight class, you really have to prepare to go up. And I need time.

“If they give it to me, I have no problem to fight Cyborg. But I don’t think it’s fair if they want to make me fight right away. You want to give Cyborg a present, give me (the fight while I’m) small and just come off a camp and fought. I don’t think that’s fair."

While not many are giving Nunes much of a shot in the first place, you have to understand her frustration at the quick turnaround. However, on the flip side, a fight of this magnitude deserves a marquee spot on a huge card like UFC 226.

Either that or whenever UFC returns to Brazil next. One thing is for sure, though, neither of them are going to be backing down anytime soon.
