Mattis eyes promotion push

Published Add your comment

Chesterfield`s new signing Dwayne Mattis has immediately set his sights on promotion to League One and insists the club`s fans will have plenty to be excited about next season should manager John Sheridan land his other transfer targets.

The midfielder penned a two-year deal with the Spireites on Friday having recently been released by Walsall, and he is hoping to be back in the third tier with his new employers this time next year.

He told the club`s official website: "The target has got to be promotion next season. The manager`s on about bringing in some quality players to add to the current squad. If the manager gets the players he wants then I think the supporters can start to get excited because I don`t want to be in League Two for too long."
