Manchester United recovered from Tuesday's Champions League elimination by Sevilla on Saturday as they beat Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup.

The 2-0 win was secured through goals from Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic, with the former now registering 25 goals in 44 appearances so far this season.

When United splashed an initial £75 million to sign Lukaku from Everton last summer, many eyebrows were raised and people questioned whether he could lead the line for such a big club.

However, while the quality of Man Utd's displays fluctuate, Lukaku has continued to regularly find the back of the net and has actually been one of the team's most consistent performers.

Shortly after the Brighton win, Lukaku took some time to show some appreciation to the Old Trafford crowd - and United supporters on Twitter absolutely loved it.

What Lukaku did after Man Utd 2-0 Brighton

Having advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Tottenham, all the Man Utd players had left the pitch and gone down the tunnel - except for star striker Lukaku.

As you can see in the images below, the 24-year-old stayed out on the pitch on his own and went to all four corners of the ground to thank and applaud the fans for their support.

Man Utd fans react on Twitter

Several Man Utd fans think this moment, along with his commendable work-rate in recent weeks, is yet another sign that Lukaku truly understands what it means to play for the club.

They are loving the Belgian's glimpses of leadership and some are even saying he is now their favourite player - check out the best reaction below:

Good season for Lukaku?

Whatever you think about Lukaku's all-round game, which has drastically improved in 2018, no one can deny that he's enjoyed a fine debut campaign at the Theatre of Dreams.

His tally of 25 goals means he's currently netted more times than the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Roberto Firmino and Alvaro Morata - to name a few.
