Real Madrid stretched their winning run to four games on Sunday night after beating Girona 6-3 in a quite thrilling encounter at the Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo continued his amazing form in 2018 by scoring four times, and while Los Blancos remain third, they've closed the gap to neighbours Atletico Madrid to just four points.

With Barcelona looking certain to regain the La Liga title, Real will surely put their entire focus on winning the Champions League for an unprecedented third year in a row.

They schooled Paris Saint-Germain over two legs in the Round of 16, and ahead of their quarter-final against Juventus, fans have reacted to what's been said about Gareth Bale.

Bale has spent large periods of this season injured but he returned to Madrid's squad against Girona and came off the bench to score a lovely goal, his 12th of the campaign.

The 28-year-old and Lucas Vazquez were the only Real players to get on the scoresheet besides Cristiano on Sunday, and one commentator made a stark comparison between the pair.

What commentator said about Bale and Vazquez

As shown below, during the win over Girona, a commentator suggested that Bale now needs to prove that he's on the same level as Vazquez if he wants to start against Juventus on April 3.

Vazquez assisted Ronaldo's vital goal in the Parc des Princes and has become somewhat of an ever-present in big matches under Zinedine Zidane due to his work-rate and effectiveness.

In La Liga this term, the 26-year-old has provided four goals and seven assists, in comparison to Bale, who has scored nine times but only registered one assist.

Football fans react on Twitter

Fans who heard the comments took to Twitter to address the subject and the majority of them actually agreed - something which few people ever thought they'd hear.

One fan even claimed that Vazquez is 100% deserving of a starting role over the 28-year-old Welshman - check out the best reaction below:

The £85.3 million man still possesses world-class ability, but the fact that people don't see this Vazquez claim as outrageous or unbelievable does sum up where the Welsh star's career is at.

As mentioned above, Zidane's men travel to Turin for the Champions League first leg before hosting Juve a week later, with the small matter of a Madrid derby in between.
