Personalities don't come much bigger than Joey Barton and Scott Brown in the world of football. The pair clashed together at Rangers and Celtic as well as sharing their fair share of insults back and forth over the years. Both are as unforgiving and relentless off the pitch as they are on it.After Celtic's 0-0 draw with Motherwell at the weekend, another bout of controversy has surrounded Brown and Barton took no time at all to make the most of it during Alan Brazil's Breakfast Sports Show on talkSPORT.Motherwell's Cedric Kipre was dismissed in the 41st minute having been adjudged to have lashed out at Brown after a hard tackle from the Celtic captain. Stephen Robinson stated after the game: "I've seen it back, so I'm 100% certain it's not a red card."

Joey Barton roasts Scott Brown on talkSPORT

Furthermore, Motherwell have decided to protest the decision and they may have a case. Brown reacted to the aftermath of the tackle himself and went down easily after Kipre stuck out a leg during the fracas.

Try telling that to Barton, though, who used the episode as a spring board to sink his teeth into Brown, Celtic and even Scottish football in general. He really went for it.

Per the Daily Record, he stated: "Has Scott Brown been cheating again?

"Is he the full shilling? We saw him up at Aberdeen the other week and then wearing the shades against Rangers.

"It seems to me he is a little bit short. He doesn't look the full ticket to me."

Barton goes in on Celtic and the standard of Scottish football

Brutal, and then Celtic were pulled into it with Barton drawing on his experience in the SPL as means of comparing it to Sunday League standards.

"I wasn't used to League One standard, League Two standard - it was Sunday League!

"I was passing balls to players and they didn't even run there. So I played in the Premier League, went up to Scotland, couldn't deal with the poor standard around me and I returned to England.

"The fact that the Celtic boys have never come down here and tested themselves says a lot.

"Who's the geezer they were trying to talk about for an England call-up who had a stinker here? Scott Sinclair, come on, you can't be serious."

Barton won't earn himself many fans in Scotland with those comments, that's for sure.

Another certainty is that Brown won't let Barton's words pass him by and we can't wait for the response.
