Luke Shaw's struggles at Manchester United have been well documented since his £30 million arrival from Southampton in 2014.

The 22-year-old - who was only 18 at the time - made a promising start to life at the Theatre of Dreams, but since then has faced an ongoing battle with injuries and consistency.

And his career at the Red Devils reached breaking point on Saturday when, against Brighton in the FA Cup, he started the game but was replaced at half-time by Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho, who could be seen berating Shaw from the sidelines throughout the first half, then proceeded to slam the Englishman in his post-match press conference.

Shaw's future at United is now in serious doubt and for Paul Scholes, it's "disappointing" that he's been unable to live up to his vast potential.

"I think sometimes, managers get in their head that there's a player not for them," said Scholes. "For me, I think he could be brilliant but his manager will still find something wrong with him.

"It is disappointing because when Luke Shaw came you thought what a player that is and he could be the best. It's a relationship that come the summer will end."

LE TISSIER GIVES HIS TAKE

Mourinho has been widely criticised for the way he's treated Shaw during his two years at United and now Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has dropped a bomb shell on the situation.

According to the former striker, who now works as a pundit on Sky Sports, Mourinho is "destroying" Shaw with his aggressive approach and will end up losing the left-back this summer.

"I think if Mourinho is still there then it is inevitable Shaw will leave this summer. I have no idea what he is trying to achieve," explained Le Tissier.

"There is just a really strange relationship going on there and I don't understand what he's doing, because he's just destroying the player at the moment.

"I'm not sure if it was anything to do with him choosing Manchester United over Chelsea despite being a Chelsea fan when Mourinho was manager at the time.

"You also don't know what happens at training or how he lives his life to give an accurate assessment.

"But, while there are players that this sort of approach can work with, I just don't think Shaw is one of them."

Unfortunately for United fans, Le Tissier is bang on. Mourinho needs to learn that every player reacts differently to criticism and Shaw is one player he must be careful with - or else lose him.
