Who would’ve thought Paul Pogba could be anywhere near the Old Trafford exit door less than 24 months after his then world-record arrival from Juventus.

The 25-year-old has struggled to fulfil expectations at Manchester United as Jose Mourinho continues struggling to bring the best out of his £89 million man.

Nobody seems to know what type of midfielder Pogba is anymore, despite his manager trialling him in a variety of roles since the beginning of last season.

Whether deployed alongside one or two colleagues in the middle of the park, the Frenchman has rarely looked totally comfortable in a United shirt.

Mourinho could yet have a few more ideas to help the situation, but something has to give in this stark clash of styles.

Unlike his pragmatic boss, Pogba has a natural flair that makes him a rare breed in the United squad.

The former Juventus star grew up idolising Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldinho among others, and it appears he aims to play with others who share his flamboyant approach on the pitch.

Speaking in an interview on Argentine TV channel TyC Sports, Pogba was recited a quote from one of the flashiest footballers around, Neymar.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward, per the Sun, said of his United counterpart: "I love the way he is and at some moment in time we’re going to play together."

POGBA'S RESPONSE

In response, Pogba revealed his clear admiration of the Brazilian and a desire to eventually line up as teammates.

"Yes, Neymar, Neymar. I also like him. He also has the definition of happiness on the pitch. In Brazil football is everything, it’s life in Brazil. Everyone plays football,” he said.

“I love to see him on the pitch playing, with his technique and his ability. It’s a different style. When you say the word Neymar around the world, everyone knows who he is and what he does.

"Therefore if I could play with him one day it would be a pleasure.”

It’s hard to disagree the prospect of Pogba and Neymar linking up is simply delicious.

But if they were to join forces in the future, would it be in Manchester, Paris or somewhere else?
