Hands up if you knew Adam Bogdan was still on Liverpool’s books.Nope, us neither. That changed on Wednesday night when Bogdan was named among the starters for Liverpool’s Under-23 side against Middlesbrough. The Hungarian goalkeeper, who was brought to Liverpool from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer back in June 2015, started alongside Nathaniel Clyne in the last 16 of the Premier League Cup.This was his opportunity to remind Jurgen Klopp that Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet aren’t the only two keepers currently plying their trade at Anfield. However, things didn’t exactly go to plan for Bogdan, who has only managed to make six first-team appearances for the Reds.Within a minute, Liverpool’s U23s were a goal down when Mitchell Curry put the hosts ahead at Bishop Auckland.

Bogdan howler made it 2-0

Half-hour later and it was 2-0, with Bogdan at fault for Boro’s second goal of the night.

“Adam Bogdan really won’t want to see that again,” read the Liverpool Echo’s live match blog. “Another Boro free kick comes into the box, the keeper comes out into a crowd of players to try and collect and he drops the fall almost straight to the feet of Curry to finish. That was not good.”

Oh, Adam.

Bogdan then conceded another goal in the second half - Curry’s shot finding its way through his legs - and that was effectively game over.

Liverpool out of Premier League Cup - fans blast Bogdan

Liverpool pulled one goal back Matty Virtue but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

The Merseysiders were subsequently eliminated from the Premier League Cup.

Bogdan’s Liverpool career, meanwhile, now certainly over.

Liverpool fans on social media can't believe that Bogdan was starting a match for the club - even at Under-23 level - and seem to be hoping that’s the final time they see him in a red shirt…

It would be a genuine surprise if Bogdan is still at Anfield when the 2018-19 campaign gets underway in August.

He spent last season on loan with Wigan Athletic and was linked with a move to Leeds United in January, which failed to materialise.

One of Brendan Rodgers’ most underwhelming signings has surely made his last ever appearance for the club.
