There’s no denying that Jaylen Brown is one of the most important players on the Boston Celtics.Earning a starting role in his second NBA season, Brown is averaging 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 30.9 minutes per game and is one of the main reasons why the Celtics are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.During a 117-109 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, Brown’s season flashed before everyone’s eyes as he crashed to the floor in a scary fall following a dunk.Luckily, he was eventually able to walk off the floor under his own power and has been out since then with a concussion, but it’s obvious that the injury could have been a lot worse.Check out the play below to refresh your memory.

“You just take a fall like that at that speed, he said multiple times it felt like he was in a car crash,” Brad Stevens told reporters on Wednesday, per Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald.

Brown’s recollection of the fall is concerning, to say the least.

“I remember waking up and there’s a bunch of people. I remember slipping off the rim and then there were a bunch of people standing around me. I was like, what the hell is going on,” he said. “I had been out for 30 seconds or whatever, and then I tried to get up and everyone was like, whoa, whoa. I’m like, what’s the big deal. That’s all I remember.”

Although he was able to walk off the court under his own power, he admitted that he blacked out directly after the fall. That’s stunning. But, at the end of the day, he’s thankful that he avoided a major injury.

“Could have been worse, to be honest — just a blessing that I didn’t need a stretcher or anything to walk off the floor with,” said Brown. “Scary because people were tweeting and everything, and it’s just a scary situation for me because you never want to be in a situation where people are saying they’re praying for you, or anything like that. … When I was unconscious, completely knocked out, I remember people were saying we’re going to get a stretcher, and something came over me and I just got right up.”

Since Kyrie Irving has been dealing with a nagging knee injury and Marcus Smart recently underwent hand surgery, Brown’s return will be a huge addition for the Celtics, who have gone 2-3 without him on the court.

He made it clear that when he returns, he will be more careful, especially on dunk attempts.

“I watched it and it could have been a lot worse. Doctors said that nine out of 10 people are getting crucially injured,” he noted. “As fast as I was going, the impact, the height I fell from, it’s like I slipped off the rim at the worst possible time because all the momentum was going forward, and I fell right on my neck and my back.”

Brown concluded, “Going forward I want to be a little more careful and come back for the rest of the season and the rest of the year. Looking forward to getting back on the floor.”

It remains to be seen if the effects of the concussion linger or if the budding star will be able to put the scary fall behind him and move forward.
